While it may seem that DJ's are guys who just sit back in radio studio and wait for some guy on the other side of the glass to cue them in, it is just not so. An on air jock doesn't have a engineer anymore. So no guy on the other side of the glass. All the timing of commercials and when to play a song when to talk and when to not talk fall on the jock. As with any job there are rules and protocols to follow. Even radio stations can be political and I am not refereeing to who's ass to kiss at work I am talking about real politics if your a die hard Democrat you may not want to work at a station that viers to the right and vice versa. Your political opinions matter anytime your in the public eye or in this case the public's ear. It should be noted that unless your doing a direct political show your views should not matter too much but keep in mind if you lean to the left you would not want to work for Fox News. Some station owners in smaller markets who are trying to get bigger, go with the demographics of the local community they serve as a type of springboard. In this political season like the one were in saying the wrong thing on air could land you in hot water or without a job. My political views do not matter in this day and age what matters in radio rs most is protecting the product and in this case the actual radio station I work for now. If I work somewhere else tomorrow then it is their product am sworn to protect. I am a product myself that I should try to protect.
